Ip Man has migrated to Hong Kong where he plans to introduce Wing Chun into the region, but on the island he faces many obstacles including the local martial arts master Hung Ga who later learns to accept Ip Man and his form of martial arts. The two later get into trouble with a corrupt police superintendent who orders the death of Hung. Ip Man is then challenged by a boxing champion. To preserve the dignity of the Chinese people and to prove that his form of kung fu is the best, Ip Man decides to take up the challenge.
